Street Art

Here are some more of my recent street art photographs inspired by Martha Cooper's photographs. I didnt edit these in black and white, although I played around with the contrast and saturation in Photoshop. I really like these photographs because the colour is so vibrant and it shows the beauty and importance of street art. I captured the most important part of the street art to portray that it is more than a form of vandalism.

Portraits

I decided to play around with portraits of my family and friends. I edited them in black and white because I thought they looked more effective in terms of the contrast and tones. I like the way it gives more of a luminous effect.

Light sources

Last night I decided to take some photographs playing around with different sources of light. I trailed photographs of lamps, candles and light bulbs. I used the manual setting on the DSLR camera as well as AV.

My Chosen Photographer - Martha Cooper

I decided to choose Martha Cooper because I saw her as an inspiration to my photographs in terms of her representation of graffiti and its importance in the world of art. This is why I see her as important due to the fact that I am really interested in street art and the way that it is portrayed in society because a lot of people see it as not being art. Martha Cooper shows the importance of it.

The photographs create wonderful depth and I incorporated this into my graffiti photographs.I wanted to portray the colour of the street art against the coldness of the concrete by making the graffiti colour and the rest black and white. This technique works well and speaks of the influence and need for more art to liven up our often bleak urban world.

Capturing Nature

I enjoy taking photographs of nature because I find it beautiful and relaxing.

Here are some photographs I took at a lake near my house this weekend. I edited them using different techniques on Bridge and photoshop such as the vibrance and saturation as well as the fill light and exposure.

Placement

I decided to take a few photographs at my Placement at Iramoo over the two week block. There was a beautiful rainbow which I though would be a good composition for my photographs. Also, there are a lot of native plants which look really beautiful.
